Week 6 - Self-mastery

I enjoyed reading this week's material as it gave me some moments of realization about moving forward with an idea to start a business and become an entrepreneur.  My favorite thing was to see that you do not need a solid business plan to move forward with an idea you have.  I think of the example with my husband who decided to start working on an app.  He came up with the idea as he kept wanting something like this and because there was not something already created he decided he would create it himself.   It has been fun watching the progress he has made, but they of course some with set backs.  One of the most important lesson's is to not give up just because something does not progress the way you envisioned it.  To me this is part of self-mastery as we all have things in our lives that we may want to give up or walk away from but keeping at them and practicing will give us the satisfaction of mastering something.  I also really enjoyed readin...

Week Five

I really enjoyed the readings from this week and my favorite was the case study.  Seeing how someone made their passion come to life and was able to make a business out of it was inspiring.  This really triggered ideas and things for me that I know I need to look into and figure out. I have thought about pursuing a passion that I could work out of my house for years and have always known that this would be something I wanted when I had a family.  I also love reading the talk on perseverance and the importance of this characteristic.  It is not always easy to push ourselves and to keep going at times in our lives but when we do the reward is very satisfying.  This reminds me of working out and how it is so important to have perseverance when pursuing working out.  There will always be days when your body feels too tired, when your mental capacity feels like it is at it's end wits, but these are the times that is the most important to push and persevere as it...

Week 4

This week I really enjoyed finishing the book "Launching Leaders".  There was so many good stories and principles in that book that I had heard before but felt that I needed to be reminded.  It is interesting that you can read a book two different times in your life and get different things from it each time you ready it.  This is one of the reasons I feel we are so encouraged to read our scriptures daily as each time we come across an account it may sit with us different than it did before.  Of all the things we read and learned from this week I really enjoyed learning the formula.  It was a chapter in the book we discussed and also on a video.  My favorite step that really hit me was finding your oil.  I think it is so important to know what motivates and drives you, which goes right alongside doing what you love.  I have had times where I have struggled to find my oil and know what it is, I want to be doing, but when I do life has so much more ...
I really enjoyed the readings and case study from this weeks assignments. It is always inspiring to read others story's of how they found success in their lives and fulfilled their dreams.  When reading Elder Robins talk I liked how he talked about the different levels of motives that drive companies and individuals.  I feel I have worked for both A,B,C level companies throughout my career.  It is amazing how some companies can start out at A level companies and quickly move down in levels based on their decisions and what they put first.  I have seen with my own eyes how money and power can quickly change a person and a company.  Seeing the different steps for the "Formula of Success" shared by Jim Ritchie was also inspiring. He stated the following three steps from Jay and combined them with David Hates three steps. First being Get up early and get an education, second being work hard and make your mark, third being find your oil and prepare to serve/give ba...
