Week 14 - Last Post - Celebrate your Life
This class flew by and I cannot believe it is already over. I learned so many things to ponder and consider with my life going forward. I loved the talk by President Monsen "Finishers Wanted", as it really hit home about being a finisher and not just a starter. I loved the quote in the talk about the mark of effort, which read "Vision without effort is daydreaming; effort without vision is drudgery; but vision, coupled with effort, will obtain the prize."
How easy it is to think about getting things done or think of things we want to do but acting on those thoughts is what makes the biggest difference in our lives. So many insights and learning from this course about what I really want to do next professionally with my life. It became very clear to me why I love project management and how I want to continue on in the field. Also, understanding how to have a better mentality when going into a job and realizing that if you are not at a job you love you probably should look for that opportunity.
Here are some thoughts on the final questioned asked to ponder.
- If you had one final lecture to share with a group of students on what you have learned from this course, what would you share?
My final lecture I would share after taking this course is to understand yourself and your qualities before jumping into something. For some people it takes years of different experiences to really understand what they are good and what they want to do when they grow up. We are all on different paths and understanding what the end goal, can be the most important part of the journey. Throughout our journey short term goals and some long term will change, but always sticking with shooting for the ultimate end goal is important. On my path I feel that I have learned so many things about myself and what I am good at. It took starting in the medical field and quickly realizing that was not for me to end up in the industry and field I work at today. Have no regrets. This was something that was said to me on my mission and I firmly believe if you give it your all you will not look back having regrets. I took many paths in life that I wish I had not as it felt like the long way to the ultimate prize I was seeking, but I do not regret the lessons I learned and knowledge I have been able to gain along the way.
- What would be your last bit of advice to someone wanting to begin the entrepreneur journey?
My last bit of advice I would give is "Don't be afraid of failure". Often times we don't even start something because we are afraid it will fail. Some of the post prominent entrepreneurs have come from multiple failures. During the time of failure and trials it is not easy to push through and not give up but if you keep fighting the fight in the end the reward will be sweet.
- What words of advice, direction, or caution would you give him or her if you had only one chance to give your own last lecture?
The biggest advice I would give to anyone if it was my last lecture is to have a relationship with God. When you take the time in life to put God's will before you own he will direct you. Having faith in him and that he knows better than you can be hard as the carnal man wants to take control. Always understand that he knows better than you and trusting him is an ultimate act of love that will spill over into other areas of your life.
