While listening to Randy's video from the assignment I realized that about four months ago I read his book and really enjoyed it.  I would recommend anyone to read or listen to this book as I really enjoy the advice and tips he gives.  One that stuck with me is that it is not about achieving your dreams its about how you lead your life.

For me when I look back and think of the dreams I had as a child, not a whole of of things come to my mind.  The one thing I always knew I wanted was to be a wife and a mother.  But I never aspired to do something specific like becoming a Doctor, Athlete, or Teacher.  Because nothing ever stood out to me when I was in high school as something I really wanted to pursue I made my decision with the degree in college based on what I could do and what made sense logically.  This is the reason I went to school for medical assisting and got my certification.  After working in this field for a year it was evident to me that I really did not love it.  After moving and things will changing in my life I decided to pursue a different degree and career.

At this point I can say I still did not have a a solid idea of what field or industry I wanted to work in and what I wanted to do with my life.  This is why I feel I can relate so much with the statement that it is not about achieving your dream but how you live your life.  With not knowing exactly what I wanted to do, I picked a starting point of working in an office.  I knew I enjoyed being on the computer and organizing thing so an office job seemed the most suitable to me.

After working for a this company for a year and moving up to be a customer service manager, I decided I did not love managing people directly but more indirectly.  I soon changed roles in this company and became a project manager over time and realized that this was a job and function that I loved doing. Finding what fits your talents and gifts can be a long or short process for people.  I think of Randy and how he knew he wanted to work with math and characters at a young age.  My husband is also a great example of this as he knew he wanted to work on circuit boards of computers since he was a teenage and that is exactly what he does today.

I am looking forward to continue to pursue my dreams and leading my life in a way that Heavenly Father can guide and direct me in my pursuit.
